How Facebook Advertising Works
From a Ever find yourself aimlessly scrolling through your Facebook newsfeed and all of a sudden you see that product you were JUST looking at on another website pop up with an alluring “sale going on now!” or an ad of a box full of dog toys and treats that you can subscribe to have delivered to your home monthly?
In a creepy yet exciting way, Facebook has discovered how to dig deep into my cyber footprint and I am dumped into a variety of categories.
Dog owner, twenty-something, female, college educated, car enthusiast are just a few of the audiences I belong to. And I am constantly reminded of this.
Every day my newsfeed fills with advertisements of yoga studios, car dealerships, oil change coupons, bark boxes, online boutiques, car dealerships, concert tickets, doggy daycare, fitness programs, Nordstrom’s, and did I mention car dealerships??
Since I spend a big portion of my time online looking at car dealerships, this category serves me 3x more ads than the others. That being said, depending on what you look at the most online, Facebook can track your interests and hobbies and in turn will serve you ads based on those things.
There are a few options for the ads being served. When a user clicks on the ad, it can either lead them to the actual company website OR to the company’s Facebook page. We recommend linking ads directly to the company website because it is a great way to drive traffic and engaged consumers to your online inventory. Happy Facebook advertising ☺!
